Beautiful Scenery in Japan
In this blog, I will gradually introduce some of the beautiful scenery of Japan that I have photographed myself over the years.
This is a photograph of the Yakehashiri Lava Flow in Iwate Prefecture, which is designated as a Special Natural Monument of Japan.
The lava here was formed when Mount Iwate erupted in 1732. Even today, nearly 300 years later, some plants, including pine trees, have begun to grow in places. However, most of the area still consists of rugged, black, solidified lava.
This is a place where you can feel the power and overwhelming energy of nature from the vast lava flow. Seeing how the area has retained its original appearance even after 300 years, while nature is slowly beginning to regenerate, also gives you a strong sense of the smallness of human existence and the grandeur of nature.
The observation deck is about 200–300 meters from the parking lot. However, the cooled and hardened lava is extremely rough and difficult to walk on, even in sneakers. Wearing sandals may result in injury, so please be careful.
Although this is not a place that is easily accessible without a car, it appears to be about a 20-minute taxi ride from the nearest station, Ōbuke Station.
This may be a good place to take surreal photographs.
