Beautiful Scenery in Japan
In this blog, I will gradually introduce some of the beautiful scenery of Japan that I have photographed myself over the years.
This is a photograph of the autumn leaves at Chūson-ji Temple in Iwate Prefecture.
Chūson-ji Temple, along with Byōdō-in’s Phoenix Hall in Kyoto, is considered a representative example of Jōdo Buddhist architecture from the Heian period (12th century). It was registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in June 2011.
From the parking lot, you will need to walk uphill for a while. As you make your way along a path lined with large trees, you will find numerous temples standing along the route. As you take your time walking around and admiring the beautiful architecture, Buddhist statues, and surrounding trees, the hours seem to pass by in no time.
The main attraction, Konjikidō (the Golden Hall), is enclosed within a concrete building for preservation purposes. However, after paying the admission fee, you can enter the building and see the Golden Hall and its precious Buddhist statues, which are beautifully covered in gold.
In autumn, the foliage is particularly beautiful, and the temple grounds are also illuminated at night, creating an even more mystical atmosphere.
As for parking, if you find it difficult to walk uphill from the lower parking lot, there is also a parking area farther up the mountain, which you can use instead.
