Beautiful Scenery in Japan
In this blog, I’ll be sharing some of the beautiful landscapes and scenic places in Japan that I have personally photographed over the years.
This photograph was taken at Maruike-sama (Maruike Shrine) in Yamagata Prefecture.
A Mysterious Blue Spring
Maruike-sama is a small spring-fed pond, measuring about 20 meters (65 feet) in diameter. Its crystal-clear water is incredibly beautiful, and depending on the sunlight and the angle from which you view it, the color of the water seems to change.
The pond has a wonderfully mysterious atmosphere. The vivid colors of the water, combined with the surrounding greenery, make it feel like a hidden natural sanctuary.
The pond is said to be part of the grounds of Chokai-san Omonoimi Shrine, and there are also two small shrine buildings nearby.
An Easy Place to Visit
One of the nice things about Maruike-sama is that it is easy to reach. From the nearby parking area, it only takes a few minutes on foot to get to the pond.
The surrounding area is also pleasant to explore on foot, so if you have some extra time, I recommend taking a leisurely walk and enjoying the peaceful natural surroundings.

Enjoy the Scenery of Mount Chokai
If you visit on a clear day, you can also drive to one of the viewpoints around Mount Chokai and enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery.
For travelers who want to experience the natural beauty of Japan away from crowded tourist destinations, this is a wonderful area to explore.
I’ll continue sharing many more photographs of beautiful places across Japan, so I hope you’ll enjoy discovering them with me.
