Beautiful Scenery in Japan
In this blog, I will gradually introduce some of the beautiful scenery of Japan that I have photographed myself over the years.
This is a photograph of hydrangeas I took at the Michinoku Hydrangea Garden in Iwate Prefecture.
The Michinoku Hydrangea Garden is a place where you can enjoy hydrangeas native to Japan, with approximately 400 varieties and 50,000 hydrangea plants said to be growing throughout the garden. The best time to see them is generally around early July.
When you actually visit, you can enjoy a truly wide variety of hydrangeas in different shapes and colors across the spacious grounds. Since the blooming period varies slightly depending on the variety, the flowers you can see will also differ depending on when you visit.
The walking paths throughout the garden are well maintained and easy to walk along. However, since the garden is located in a mountainous area, there are some uphill and downhill sections, and your shoes may get muddy, especially after rain. I recommend wearing sneakers. For elderly visitors or those who have difficulty walking, there is also a paid service that allows you to tour the walking routes by electric cart, which is reassuring.
The roads can become quite crowded during hydrangea season, and temperatures can also be high, so I recommend visiting early in the morning when there are fewer people and the weather is cooler.
*The paths within the garden are not paved, so please wear comfortable, waterproof shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
