Beautiful Scenery in Japan
In this blog, I will gradually introduce some of the beautiful scenery of Japan that I have photographed myself over the years.
This is a small church in Hakodate, Hokkaido. It was built in 1860 as a chapel attached to the Russian Consulate. It was destroyed by fire in 1907, but the present church, the second building, was rebuilt in 1916, during the Taisho period (1912–1926). It is a historic church with a long history.
The area around this church is home to many historic buildings that were built around the same period. Some of these buildings are open to visitors, making the area a popular tourist destination.
Hakodate is also famous for the night view from Mount Hakodate. However, on clear days, there are many tourists and the ropeway can become quite crowded. Therefore, if you want to enjoy the night view, I recommend hiring a taxi from the city and having it take you to the observation area. The cost is generally around ¥7,000–¥10,000. The taxi will wait for you in the parking lot while you enjoy the view, so you can take the same taxi back down the mountain afterward.
By the way, if you visit Hokkaido, be sure to buy some of the popular Hokkaido sweets as souvenirs.
They are extremely popular throughout Japan, so you certainly won’t regret buying them. Here are some of the most famous ones:

・Rokkatei Butter Sandwiches — There is also a café in Hakodate.
・ROYCE’ Potatochip Chocolate
There are many more varieties, but it can also be fun to browse the different sweets at souvenir shops and see what catches your eye.
